Tips for Reducing Anxiety

By Dayana Delgado

Anxiety is absolutely exhausting and can add a high dose of stress. There are many causes why people develop anxiety. School, work, family, friends, and relationships are all factors that can cause stress and anxiety.

Here’s some incredibly simple tips to regain your calmness and reduce your anxiety.

1. Stretching: When your body feels tense your neck and shoulders hurt. Stretching your body helps release tension. Stretching thirty seconds per muscle every day will help boost your energy.

2. Take deep breaths: It’s proven that taking deep breaths can help with calming the nervous system. Start to inhale slowly and deeply through your nose while keeping your shoulders relaxed. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this breathing exercise several times until you feel better.

3. Sleep: It is important to have a good night’s sleep. Not having a good night’s sleep can increase the effect of anxiety. Sleeping 8 hours a day helps your brain to relax and wake up in a good mood.

4. Support from Friends & Family: Don’t be afraid to talk to someone close about your problems and insecurities. It’s shown that speaking to someone helps relieve anxiety. It helps unburden everything that has been tormenting you overtime. If you do not feel comfortable with speaking to friends and family about your anxiety, you can seek professional help from a free hotline.
